2011 - 2014
Virtuoso co-founders Markus McIver and Greg McCallum honed their craft as technology consultants delivering business IT solutions in their home country of New Zealand.
They wanted to bring the benefits of large-scale IT solutions and enterprise-grade management to small and medium-sized businesses. They sought to provide customers with the same or better quality of services and support that large corporations achieve with dedicated in-house IT.
This shared dream brought them together in 2011 to build Virtuoso; a technology-driven business, strengthened by its culture and commitment to serving its customers.
Shortly after the company was founded, Virtuoso was awarded Microsoft Gold Partnership, in acknowledgement of strong technical capability in Microsoft technology.
Over the next three years, Virtuoso grew quickly, building a reputation of technical excellence. We moved into our first office in Metropolitan Wharf, Wapping in early 2012.
2015 - 2016
As a result of customer demand, Virtuoso expanded into IT managed services, providing bespoke infrastructure and network support to an expanding mid-market customer base. Our team built upon their consultancy capabilities to expand into tailored managed services.
During 2015, Virtuoso made significant investments in operational tools and processes to ensure we could scale to meet customer demand. This included alignment to the ITIL service management framework.
Virtuoso expanded IT managed services to include full service desk capability in 2016, as well as being awarded places on key government frameworks.
2016 - 2017
Virtuoso achieved ISO 27001:2013 accreditation in 2016, demonstrating our focus on information security. We also launched EliteSupport, an IT outsourcing solution targeted specifically at London small-to-medium businesses. In response to global expansion of our UK customers, we launched a New Zealand operation to allow for 24×7 customer support.
2018 - 2019
As a result of further growth, we moved into our Canary Wharf offices in early 2018. We expanded our security portfolio in 2018 as well as achieving three additional Microsoft Cloud competencies.
2019 - Present
Over the years of 2019-2021, Virtuoso grew to hold 11 Microsoft competencies.
We’ve also won multiple industry awards, including:
- Most Innovative MSP (UK Managed Service Awards 2019)
- MSP of the Year (CRN Channel Awards 2020)
- MSP of the Year (Cloud Excellence Awards 2020)
- MSP 501 2020 & 2021
In 2021, Virtuoso took the huge step to expand the team to New Zealand. We opened an office in Auckland and appointed a new Managing Director for New Zealand, Roman Paljk.
Today, Virtuoso continues to support ambitious, global businesses with around-the-clock strategic and operational technology services.
